“Speak not any thing rashly, and let thy heart be hasty to utter a word before God. For God is in heaven and thou upon earth: therefore let thy words be few. Dreams follow many cares: and in many words shall be found folly. If thou hast vowed any things to God, defer not to pay it: for an unfaithful and foolish promise displeaseth him: but whatsoever thou hast vowed, pay it.
And it is much better not to vow, than after a vow not to perform the things promised.
Give not thy mouth to cause thy flesh to sin: and say not before the angel:There is no providence: lest God be angry at thy words, and destroy all the works of thy hands.
Where there are many dreams, there are many vanities, and words without number: but do thou fear God.
If thou shalt see the oppressions of the poor; and violent judgments, and justice perverted in the province, wonder not at this matter: for he that is high hath another higher, and there are others still higher than these:” (Ecclesiastes 5:1-8).
So, for y'all that are new here, I actually prefer to write reflective articles.
I don't want to focus on everything in this. But, I do want to focus on a couple of things in particular. I think, this makes a good point about dreams. I think, some dreams, you aren't supposed to follow. Like, we live in a culture that says dream big. Okay, dream big, but think realistically.
I want a wife and kids. I want a wife and kids, because, I want to be a husband and father, and help my spouse get to heaven.
As for vows, yeah, do it. And, it really is better just not to make a vow that you aren't going to keep.
I have no children of my own, but, I do have nieces and nephews.
“But, Uncle said x”. Actually, kids, I said, MIGHT.
But, a child will remind you of promises that you've broken.
