Testing Times
I want to share a sweet little story about my littlest one.
The Lord has blessed me so much through this child of mine. My son is constantly showing me the world from a different perspective, and the Lord is constantly teaching me valuable lessons through my son.
My youngest has a diagnosis of ASD alongside ADHD.
Sometimes, he is like a little tornado with arms and legs flying in every direction, yelling enthusiastically about his favorite topic of the day. He was even more so in the car one afternoon, as he had just had his first music therapy session. During this session, he tried every instrument in the room and was the star of his own show, singing into the microphone and dancing to the sound of his voice.
As we travelled home in the car, suddenly, in the middle of the chaos of arms waving around and legs in the air with shoes and socks thrown on the floor, my son broke out into song. ( I often joke that it is like living in a real-life musical with my youngest. ) With his sweet little off-tune voice, he loudly sang, "I LOVE GOD FOR EVER. HE IS GOOD AND I LOOOOVE HIM. I LOVE GOD!!!!"
Over and over again.
All I could picture in my mind was God looking down on us and, in particular, looking down on my son with a big grin on His face.
“O come, let us sing to the Lord; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation! Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise!” Psalm 95:1-2
In the middle of what felt like a busy afternoon that quickly turned into chaos with hyperactivity, my son reminded me how important it is to remember to stop and joyfully sing praises to God with our whole hearts simply because God IS good! He loves us just as we are, even when we are a little crazy, hyperactive, and singing out of tune amongst chaos.
I'm sure the Lord found much delight in my son's song of love for our Lord, His beloved child singing for His Father in Heaven.
What a wonderful thought that our Father in Heaven finds delight in our child-like ways.
"Let the children come to me and do not prevent them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Amen, I say to you, whoever does not accept the kingdom of God like a child will not enter it."
Luke 18:16-17
