Friendship with Christ

Be my companion today I ask,
Walk with me on my journey of life-
In daily chores, sacrifices of self to another,
Do guide my actions with your love.

Sometimes the seas of sorrow blow-
Dark storms cloud the path ahead.
Then the anchor of faith and love
Set my heart and feet upon your cross.

Your sacrifice became an altar of love;
You gave your all that I may live-
To live in love is your gift to me,
Passing along your goodness to those I meet.

Tranquil days you bless my soul
Your light shines bright along my path.
Laughter, shared joy, infuse my chores and work
Peace resides within and around myself.

“Not a brief glance I beg, a passing word,
But as Thou dwell’t with Thy disciples, Lord,
Familiar, teaching, patient, free.
Come, not to sojourn, but abide with me.”

Each morning prayer I offer you
A promise to obey your commands.
Strengthened with communion of our heart and soul
Each day is a new gift from God.
