Becoming Who We Are for the Church
Do some people come to your mind frequently? There's a few people who are always on my mind. I don't know why, but God puts them there and doesn't take them out of my mind very easily.
I come to believe that those thoughts are my cue to pray for them. So I do, every day, multiple times a day. It's a silent act of love and charity that they know nothing about.
I don't know what their life is like. I don't know what they are struggling with. I don't know why I sense that they need prayers or why God lays them on my heart.
God laid them on my heart and mind for a reason. They need my thoughts and prayers. They need my love, silently and privately. When I do pray for them, I feel a sense of peace afterwards, and I think that's God telling me I did exactly what He wanted me to do for that person.
Maybe just maybe those prayers got that person through a difficult moment. Maybe they were filled with peace. Maybe they felt a sense of love. Maybe they were drawn back to God. Maybe they helped someone avoid a sin. At least that's my hope. Who knows what people are facing.
The greatest act of love we can give us a person is a silent prayer that they know nothing about. Because we place them in the hands of the Beloved. We will their greatest good without any reward of our own.
When God lays someone on your mind and heart, take a cue, and pray for them. You just may be the person God is handpicking to send up prayers on their behalf.
