Our Longings: A Gateway to Light this Christmas
One of the gifts I am becoming more and more grateful for in my life are my Catholic girlfriends. I'm lucky to have girls in my life who find joy in a faith community, want an active and living faith, desire to share time in prayer and Adoration, talk about faith, and pray for one another. Most of them go to daily Mass, frequent confession, and volunteer in different capacities.
I pondered this gift recently when two friends of mine wanted to take me somewhere for my birthday and decided that a local candlelit prayer night, where we would light a candle for someone we loved, was a good fit, with a treat afterwards.
I'm not sure how many people can say their friends think like that or would choose something so uniquely fitting to them.
I'm lucky to have 4-5 girls in my life who take their faith seriously, invest in it, and try to live lives of prayer and virtue. I can honestly say a few of them are like soul sisters to me, and having never had sisters, that's a special thing. They are sources of encouragement to me too.
So thank you ladies. As I reflect on my many "gifts" from God as I turn another year older, you are a great gift to my life and truly God-sent. Thanks for being the "sisters" I never had and faith-filled women who inspire me.
