Young Adult Leadership in the Church
Have you ever tried to heal a sin in your life only to find yourself struggling over and over again? I often heard a phrase "Our pain won't leave us until it teaches us what it's meant to teach us." I've found that this carries a great deal of truth.
Even more recently, after asking God constantly to take away and heal a certain sin of mine over and over again, and wondering why He hasn't, a new thought-provoking insight came to me:
There's a wound behind the wound.
On the surface, our wound looks different, and so does the solution. But if we dig deeper, we will find that there is a hidden wound behind the wound. Perhaps an emotional wound that has gone unattended to. And, that is precisely what is in need of healing.
When I think about my own wounds, the wounds of Jesus came to mind. We can unite our woundedness with His woundedness and remember His great love and mercy for us as our healing unfolds.
Invite Jesus into your woundedness. Tell Him your wound. Share His suffering. Let Him show you the path to healing as He makes you whole again.
