Our faith can be shaken at a moment notice. We think we have everything going for us and nothing can pull us away from God. However, God will always bring us back to reality. God will drop something to shake our faith. Some of those events seem to be: a divorce, a death of a family member or friend, a miscarriage, a job loss, not getting accepted into a certain school. These events may seem like God is against us.
Yet, God is not against us. He made us in His image. So why, does it seem as God is against us? We just do not understand the bigger picture. God is not against us. He is using the losses to show us that we do need Him. At some of my major losses, I realized that God was shaking my faith to show me that He is in control. It is through Him that I realize I cannot do anything without Him. It is His will.
Sometimes, the losses are minor. Sometimes, the losses are major. It is God knowing that in some of the situations I would not remove myself. If He removes me from the situation, then not only do I need to depend on Him, but I am forced to look at my relationship with Him. I have noticed every time that God threw me a curveball, He wanted me to change up my prayer life. He wanted me to go deeper in my relationship with Him.
Those times He was telling me that I needed to pray more or do something with my prayer life. God was telling me that I needed to have more trust in Him. I need to stop filling my heart with things that are temporary. The temporary things do not bring us closer to God but pull us away from Him. They make us think that they can bring us happiness during our sad times. The only thing these sad events do is shake the faith so we realize that we need God. God wants to fill that temporary void in our hearts. God wants to give us the love that we desperately crave during our sad times. Yet, are we willing to let Him in? Are we willing to let our faith be shaken so we can have a deeper relationship with Him?
God will always be on our side. However, the catch is we need to let Him in during those difficult times. We need to allow Him to shake our faith. We need to realize as much as we yearn for a relationship with Him. He always yearns for a relationship with us. Those faith shattering moments allow us to breakdown the walls and allow Him in.
