You deserve to be loved
The story of Our Lady of Guadalupe is a great one. The native people and the Spanish were divided and Mary appeared as a woman of Spanish and native decent, a unification of the peoples. This became what we know as the Mexican people. Not native, not Spanish, but Mexican. Mom came down seeing the division of her children and brought them together under her motherhood to Jesus. She effectively ended their human sacrifices and worship of other gods.
She is our Mother. And no one wants to change this more than Satan, for she takes us to Jesus. Satan would rather us find some other mother figure to cling to or put on the same level as Mary. And so we are faced with an Amazonian goddess being given Mary’s place recently, even at the Vatican! Catholics commonly have Marian pilgrimages or displays where they carry a statue of the Virgin Mary in honor of her. Instead, I was horrified to see at least two bishops carry a statue of an Amazonian goddess on their shoulders. That is MARY’S place!
So, we have a duty. Surely, we are not going to change the hearts and minds of others, but we can show Mary that she still is and always will be our Mother. And today is such a great day to do so, especially for us in the America’s. Our Lady of Guadeloupe has shaped the America’s to the point that she is called Our Lady of the America’s because of it.
So, talk to your Mother today. Reassure her that you still consider her your Mother. Say the Rosary, especially to let her motherhood reign in your life. Seek her refuge, for she never fails.
Mary, we are sorry for the many offenses others have given you in lessening your motherhood; may we assure you that you will always be our Mother. Mom, help me in all that I do today. Amen.
