Archbishop Rodi on the Pandemic
The Holy Innocents, the Holy Family
Herod The Great, ruler of the Romans,
Suspicious of any who threatened his power;
Heard rumors of Magi seeking their king.
One, even a babe born in a lowly stable,
To become King of the Jews?
“Oh no, him I must destroy.”
Angels warn Joseph to flee in the night,
Take Mary and Jesus out of dangerous land,
Seek safety and freedom faraway to grow secure.
Many young Innocents, born in Bethlehem,
Those of Jesus’ age and sex who did no wrong,
Died at the hand of Satan’s defender.
Not much has changed today for Innocents,
Satan’s rulers again rears his evil head,
Forcing those with little financial means to flee.
A perilous journey with bombs and guns
Shatter any sense of peace and little hope-
“An angel to guide us,” is their prayer.
Who will prepare the way of these Innocents?
Who will remind them a babe is always with them?
Who will be the light of Christ for them?
We are the face of Christ
Called to promote, defend, protect Innocents.
Christ depends on us to be His angels of deliverance!
Tasked to confront evil wherever found,
Giving shelter and alms to those on their journey:
Action and prayer, the path chosen for us.
The babe’s life, death and Resurrection is our faith;
“The Lord will give strength to his people
The Lord WILL bless his people with peace.”
Ps29:11
