You have great power! But do you use it?
We may say that we trust Jesus more than ourselves, but whenever we sin, especially in the littlest of ways, we are showing that we do not trust Jesus. Why ‘especially in the littlest of ways’? Well, those should be when it is easiest to trust someone else. After all, if it is just a small matter, why should we care which is the best course of action? Am I making a mountain out of a molehill? Well, Jesus said, “The person who is trustworthy in very small matters is also trustworthy in great ones.” – [Luke 16:10]
It is the Devil that tricks us into thinking that God does not care about the small stuff. Indeed, God cares. It shows God where our heart is. If your heart is in the right place, you will do everything not to put even the smallest of things between you and your loved one. Our God gives us everything, which is far greater than we can ever repay. And He asks us for everything that we have in return, which is far less than what God gives in return. To do so takes an act of trust, which many of us continue to strive for. It is hard, but oh so worthwhile. The best return on investment anywhere.
Yet, we constantly are lied to and accept the lies that our situation allows us to break the rules. “If God only knew my situation. Surely, God would understand.” Well, the all-knowing God knows yours and my situations and it saddens Him when we do not trust that He knows better. He not only knows better, but He loves better. His love cost Him His life. How is it not easy for us to trust a God that knows all, and loves to the point of dying for us? We may not want to at times and our burdens weigh upon us, but He is all-knowing and all-loving. Indeed, all love flows from God, since “God is Love.” [1 John 4:8]
Mary, you experienced the love of God in a singularly unique way. You gave birth to our Savior and watched Him die for love of us. Please help us to know God’s love in order that we might trust God in all that we do.
