Our Health and Well-Being
The heart is the muscle that pumps blood throughout our entire body to keep us alive; should our heart stop beating, we would die. The heart also is the center of our being where love lives and thrives. Should our heart ever harden, our love would die.
Certainly, each of us knows how difficult it is to bear a broken heart and still keep love flowing throughout our lives. Consider Mary, the Mother of Jesus. Truly, her heart was broken as she saw her Son die on the cross. Yet, she withstood the pain because her heart was one with the love of God.
In this oneness, Mary was secure. Without losing heart, Mary was able to endure the trials and tribulations that came into her life. In this oneness, Mary was and is immersed in the greatest purpose that is meant for all of us; that is the redemption and salvation of humanity. For certain, where there is heart, there is hope.
We are never alone
Sadly though, for many of us, one is a lonely number, which often leads to depression and despair. Should we ever find ourselves in that state of being, let us reach out to our Blessed Mother. Mary gently guides us and helps us to become brothers and sisters in Jesus Christ—to become one with Jesus who is one with God and the Holy Spirit.
Remember, Jesus is God’s love made manifest. We see the greatness of this love from the cross when Jesus, before His death, gave us Mary to be our mother (personified by John, the beloved disciple). From that excruciating moment, Mary’s heart has provided a conduit to God’s love as the thoughts of many hearts are revealed and united with her Son.
Joined in this love, we are never alone. In Jesus, we are united with God the Father and the Holy Spirit, and we find the holiness Our Lord wants each of us to have for our daily living. This holiness grows in us as we live to share the love of God in our world.
Love with all our hearts
Consider the teachings from the Bible: God is One and there is no other than He. Therefore, to love Him with all our hearts, with all our understanding, with all our strength, and to love one another as ourselves is to have Our Lord’s love and His graces with us always. Like Mary, we are secure in Our Lord’s embrace with the strength to withstand whatever life throws at us without losing heart or hope.
Together in one heart with an everlasting love, we can help to make our world more merciful and compassionate, especially for those who suffer in pain and loneliness. This divine love we have to share immerses us in the greatest purpose we will ever experience—salvation for ourselves and for one another. With every charitable moment, we can help bring our world closer to Heaven while pulling away from the depths of despondency.
With our Blessed Mother to guide us, may the love of God live in and through our hearts now and forevermore. Amen.
