Why the Devout Life is essential for every Catholic
Simon Stock was born in 1165 in England. His family was not wealthy, but they raised Simon in the faith of Christ. He is one of the great Carmelite Saints, and his life is an extraordinary example of how God can make anyone his vessel to do great and wonderful things. He lived as a hermit in the trunk of a large tree from the age of 12 to the age of 42, and then departed after being visited by the Blessed Virgin Mary in a vision, telling him of a special order dedicated to her that would come from the holy land, and that he would eventually join them. How did this undertaking occur? Who were the hermits that travelled from the Holy land, and how did Simon Stock give us the truly wonderful devotion of the brown scapular? Listen to the life of Saint Simon Stock on his feast day, dramatically acted for your enjoyment and edification, presented by Sacred Heart Audio Theater.
I decided to create Sacred Heart Audio Theater because there was no platform like it out there. There are few things more Catholic than Saint stories, few things more inspiring than reading about how these great men and women decided to abandon everything and follow Christ, often to the death. However, there are few genuinely Catholic dramas about the Saints. It usually takes an enormous amount of money upfront and it is a big risk for investors...I find a problem with that. I loved the BBC mystery dramas as a child, and would just sit down, close my eyes and pretend like I was actually there. The more I thought about it, the more I decided that it would be worth presenting the lives of the saints in audio form, and Sacred Heart Audio Theater was born. Simon Stock was our first major undertaking, with over 40 voice actors playing roles. Sacred Heart audio Theater, bringing saint stories to life for the whole family! Saint Simon Stock, pray for us!
