I think everyone agrees with the fact that: OUR WORLD HAS BECOME A TRASHY MESS!! Rather it be in the way mankind has trashed up the environment with their bad habits of laziness: or by the way in which ATTITUDES, OPINIONS and BEHAVIORS have trashed out lives with emotional garbage. Words are just a deadly as the bullets shot from a gun.
As for myself, I know that I have and am very capable of messing up my life daily. Oh those little mini many ways of passing on the sins of Adam in life.
Every MESS in our lives today have been passed down over the generations from Adam and Eve or the first humans to inhabit our world. Some would think that 'SIN' was one of disobedience---but really, the first sin started with the human trait of being dissatisfied, discontented and WANTING MORE than the paradise they had. Think about it. They had all the could ever want ---given to them, and yet that was not enough.
THIS is FACT in our world today. We take what we have for granted and are perpetually wanting MORE. This humaness leads us to be wasteful! For once we have more---oh, to our surprise: that material poccession did not bring me the complete joy I thought it would! So cast it off, or dump it anywhere once we are through with the pleasure. This even goes true for relationships abandoned. That person just wasn't right for me, let me go find another.
That is why we have the most wonderful awesome 'Trash Collector" Who can rescue us and clean us up--IF we want to be set free of bad habits. There in lies the catch --- IF WE WANT TO! Do we really want to be happy, and contented as a weaned child on its mother's lap?
Here is the steps again to take to be set free of the TRASH of your heart and mind. Note, if your physical world is chaotic, a mess, cluttered and disorganized---then look inward. Get out the "Wellness Journal" and start making more lists. What are you unhappy with, what aggravates you when you see it and what behaviour do you have that is compulsive or addictive? Then DRAW AWAY AND HAVE A LITTLE TALK WITH JESUS. Be still and know what areas of your life is piled high with unconfessed sins and leaving you in a trashing mess.
I loved the recent blog that someone wrote about the release he felt after confessing a lifetime of sins.
Blocking Grace
(Thank you for sharing that story.)
Oh how our spiritual 'trash' can pile up if we do not admit it is trash. We can rationalize and make excuses for our behavior---but like the calories add up and pounds pile up: venial sins or weak faith can too. They are just as destructive spiritually, given time.
Thank you God that your are ever merciful, ever loving and forgiving and are always waiting for our 'coming back and wanting to be cleaned up.' Make our hearts pure, our soul white as untouched snow. Forgive us Lord for our laziness, our discontent and desiring to be different than who You made us to be. Forgive us for rebelling and resisting, wanting what we want and not caring how much we waste. Reveal to us how we waste time and possession's, talents and your gifts. Please, oh my God, my Lord and Savior ----be my street sweeper and trash collector. I give you permission to SCRUB me clean, even if it is uncomfortable and I don't like what trash I see: but MUST SEE. If I do not see what is sinful, then like mold, dust, clutter and stink ---my temple becomes an inhabitable dwelling place for You and me too. I thank you God that you see past my faults and patiently wait for my spirit to desire a good cleaning.
Let us daily confess our sins and go to confession regularly as the Blessed Mother has told us to do, every two weeks. Think about it. What would your home look like if you only cleaned once or twice a year? YUCK!!
