We needed Mary to be Immaculate!
With this current pandemic and the chaos in our country, it seems too much for us to confront. Our lives can feel that way sometimes without a pandemic or nationwide chaos. We can feel like we are sinking in the sea. But we need to focus on what, or more specifically Who, has conquered the chaos in our lives. Just as Jesus can rebuke the winds, He can conquer the troubles in our lives too.
We normally put the weight of the chaos on our shoulders. “What can I do?” And that is a good thing. But we need to remember that reaching out to God is #1. Sure, He may ask us to make the difference, but we definitely need to call on someone who we know for certain can take care of the situation. You take your car to the mechanic because he knows how to fix it. Just so, we need to take ourselves, our family, our nation to God because He knows how to fix it.
There are times in our life that we feel overwhelmed, but it seems to be too small of an issue to bother God. “Surely, He is not concerned about this little situation for little me,” we think to ourselves. That could not be farther from the truth. Jesus died for you. He wants eternal happiness for you. Not that He wants to disregard your situation. He may free you from your situation, or He may reach out His Hand to you to carry your cross with you.
The Stations of the Cross have always been a great reminder of love. Everything was crashing down on Jesus. The Cross became too much to carry and He fell. And every time that He fell, He got back up. He was showing us His resolve to love no matter His situation. We see the depths of Jesus’ love for us. Indeed, we see that no matter our situation, there is always room to love. And that is when we know our situation has less power over us than we think, since it cannot take away our ability to love.
Jesus, You carried the Cross in a great display of Your love for us. May we be strengthened by Your great example and please give us the grace to always choose love, like You. Amen.
