Four Words Every Catholic Should Remember
In a previous article, The Simple Math of One God in 3 Distinct Divine Persons, I attempted to explain that a human person could be more than one person to others. Male and female persons are in relationships consisting of husband, wife, father, mother, son, daughter, grandson or granddaughter, friend, or neighbor. Our one God can also relate to us in the way of being the Heavenly Father, who created the earth, our Redeemer, who saves us from sin, and understood as 'the person' known as Counselor, the Holy Spirit — which is love shown of the one spirit of the Father and the Son.
In The Source Of One Faith in God, I explained that the source of faith in the triune God came from the YES of a girl named Mary. Before that YES to bring forth God's ONLY Divine Son, Mary was conceived without that original sin of Adam and Eve in Heaven. By the grace of God, Mary's purity of soul provided her 'new sight' to see beyond the natural world to the supernatural world of God. The source for this extraordinary vision was the gift of faith.
Understanding that humanity comprises multiple relationships, God's Son instituted the means to a holy Divine relationship again with His faithful followers. It would be an impenetrable fortress against the devil and sin. This fortress would be a sacramental presence of Jesus, seen with eyes of faith, and one day fully seen in the spiritual world. This new covenant with God and humanity is the Christian church, a family of God — formed by the Holy Spirit and humanity's cooperation with God's gift of faith. A covenant 'on earth as it is in heaven,' as explained in the article, Heaven's Reflection On Earth.
The One, Holy, Apostolic Catholic, aka Universal, Christian Church is a multi-relational family comprised of a heavenly Father, a spiritual mother of all souls born 'of the Spirit' of God's ONLY Divine Son and growing their faith in God with spiritual brothers and sisters of Jesus Christ, their spiritual brother and Redeemer, through the Holy Spirit acting as Counselor to the mind of mankind.
God's new temple would embrace a Judaic-Christian religion, connecting God's prophets as written in the Old Testament writings with the New Testament writings of Christ's Apostles who proclaimed the Good News of redemption back to God! The victory over death had by the sufferings Jesus Christ endured on the cross for all sins past, present, and future.
This miracle of eternal one-ness with our Triune God starts on earth. Of course, it has a three-step process for humanity to work out — with 'fear and trembling' for being comprised of 'flesh,' which can be weak for the reason of concupiscence — a small stain left by the original sin of Adam and Eve.
The first step of salvation to eternal life begins with The Father, Creator, who provides the grace of the life of His ONLY Divine Son within the soul of mankind by humanity’s act of faith to be baptized, 'in the name of the Father, Son, Holy Spirit.' Welcome to the Family of God!
The next step involves staying in a holy communication with God's Son, the Incarnate Redeemer of souls. To keep the human/divine relationship 'going, growing, and glowing' requires the outward expression of worship to our Supreme God, by way of praise, prayers of thanksgiving for blessings He gives individually and collectively, and petition for any help in our human needs. Sustaining our spiritual communion with God also requires sacrificing any weaknesses we come to understand of our human selves by our Counselor, the Holy Spirit. Through the act of faith as Christ instructed: 'Take and eat, this bread is my body' we ‘die’ to our earthly flesh, and take in exchange Christ's strength to overcome the weaknesses that lead to sin, via the consecrated bread of His Real Presence. Persevering in such a way of Christ will grow us in the 'fruit' aka virtues of Christ, our life.
The third step in our triune God's plan for our salvation involves the Holy Spirit. The young adolescent or new faithful soul of any age, acting in faith stands up to accept the gift of faith as an adult member of the family of God, with all adult responsibility to ‘pick up the cross’ to serve God and neighbor with adult commitment. The faithful soul is anointed which imparts confirmation of The Holy Spirit part of them, by a relationship with God the Father and Son. With this Sacrament of Confirmation, there come more gifts. No, not the temporal gold watch or bracelet for the occasion, but the gifts of Knowledge, Understanding, Counsel, Wisdom of God, and the Fortitude, Piety, and Respect for God.
Salvation involves a three-step process of a working relationship with our ONE Triune God — Father, Son, and Holy Spirit as well as our everyday interactions with good parents, grandparents, sisters and brothers, cousins, and our spiritual brothers and sisters
also of His spirit.
