Where Are You Called to More?
Lately, I have been thinking a lot about spiritual resilience. We are all being faced with the opportunity to grow our spiritual resilience muscles. Personally, I have noticed in myself a new resilience grown from many years in the spiritual life and many trials, and I’ve been pondering how God has done a good work in me.
What used to send me deep into despair and anxiety doesn’t do as much damage these days. Perhaps it’s somewhat of a healing, or God’s strength manifested in my being. Thanks be to God.
If you’re struggling right now with trials in your life, know that some of us have walked through many of those as well. Those dark times do pass, and God gives you the strength to get through them. If you stick with Him, He will teach you the tools and lessons you need to walk through further trials with more ease.
Trials are part of our Catholic spiritual life. They are inevitable. People used to tell me that and I always struggled with it, but it’s true. The only way to overcome them is to walk through them, hand in hand with God, and know that everything is going to be OK if He is by your side.
