Walking with the "Walking Wounded" This Lent

It's hard to believe that Lent is almost upon us already! What are you planning to do this Lent?

This Lent, I feel a call to something a little different than I would normally do. Increasingly, I've felt a call to walk with the "walking wounded" this Lent. To learn about their plights, to fast from something for them, and to engage in actions I wouldn't normally do for them.

There are a variety of opportunities right now to learn about injustice and groups who have been underrepresented and underserved in our society, and so I will take this Lent to choose a few of those groups and grow more deeply in understanding their needs while sacrificing something for the benefit of their welfare.

It will be a Lent of focusing more outward than inward.

But I also want to get more in touch with my own walking woundedness, because it's in that woundedness that we find solidarity with others in their suffering.

And, it's both that collective and individual woundedness that Christ's wounds ulitmately came to save and heal.
