Stop Limiting God in Your Life!
At Baptism, we become sons and daughters of God. While we have heard this, we all fail to see the significance. Before baptism, we were still created in the image and likeness of God. We were the peak of God’s creation. However, we were just His creation. Creatures that had soiled their relationship with the Creator. Instead of leaving us like this, The Father draws us closer to call us His sons and daughters. And we call Him Dad.
You and I are called to do many things in our lives, but nothing, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, is a greater calling. As children of the Father, we can call Jesus our Brother. Sure, He may be the Only Begotten among the Father’s children, but we are still children of the same Heavenly Father. Of course, we have sinned against our Father, and we rely on the eternal sacrifice that Jesus made to keep us in the family.
As sons and daughters, we need to recognize Our Heavenly Father as Our Father. So, we refer to Him as our Father and tell others that we are sons and daughters of God. As good children, we are to also listen to His rules and obey His commands. “Hallowed be thy Name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done”
Also, we must not take upon ourselves any responsibilities of the Father. He makes the rules. He takes care of us. He guides us and protects us. He determines who is in the family. Many times, we declare certain people to be outside of the family, either by condemning them to Hell or by not forgiving their sins against us. We act as though their sins against us are worse than our sins against God. Our sins against God are infinite sins, since God is infinite. Others sins against us are finite sins, since we are all finite. “Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us”
The Our Father is a great reminder of our great calling and also of all the benefits of our great calling.
Jesus, as the Only-Begotten Son of God, You shared Your Father with us making Him Our Father as well. You are the greatest Brother EVER! Help us to be good children of Our Father and good siblings to You. Amen.
