"Seek Ye First the Kingdom of God........."
The Path to Perdition; Are we, as a Nation, Rapidly Approaching it?
Of course throughout modern history there have been purveyors announcing the end of the world. Repent is always their theme and not too many take them seriously. However, one must believe in the statement that those who do not remember the past are bound to relive it.
Read segments from the Old Testament that list many instances where God constantly forgave his chosen people when they disobeyed him. The Book of Numbers lists three stages of frequent disobedience; (1) 3 month journey from the Red Sea to Mt. Sinai; (2) 2 year encampment at Sinai; (3) Wandering for 38 years before entering the promised land. Disobedience and rebellion are characteristic with each of these periods.
After the Israelites set out from Elim, where there were 12 springs of water and seventy palm trees, with them entering in the desert the whole Israelite community grumbled against Moses and Aaron. They said “would that we had died at the Lord’s hand in the land of Egypt, as we sat by our fleshpots and ate our fill of bread! But you had to lead us into this desert to make the whole community die of famine!” Even after the Lord gave them quail to satisfy their hunger, it was one complaint after another. Finally, when the whole community reached Mt. Sinai the people grew tired and bored when Moses took a long time with God. So, they fashioned a bronze calf and worshipped it, making the gold of humans into a god they would worship. (Ex. 15: 27,16ff, 32: 1 ff).
Their constant disobedience towards God, even after He heard their cries and gave them more and more to satisfy their needs, they continued to complain and sought out pleasures that appeased their desires. The worship of pleasure and things became their god.
How many times, throughout the Old Testament, had God shown mercy to his people? Yet, no sooner had they taken God for granted and returned back to the worship of gods of their choice?
God knew it was time to bring forgiveness to his wandering and unrelenting people by paying the ransom himself through his Son Jesus Christ.
Let’s now move ahead 2,000 years and look at the current situation of the world, but most especially the United States. The sacrifices of Jewish children by their parents resembles the sacrifices in abortion institutions. What makes this even more disgustable is the promotion by our government leaders refusing to do anything to protect human life. It has been said that abortion is the mother of euthanasia. The future of our nation has already begun. Removing the mention of God from schools, the Pledge of Allegiance, the threat of erasing “In God We Trust” from our currency, and O yes, removing or greatly renaming all rights of freedom from the Constitution of the United States.
One gift God gave all of us is Free Will. It is that gift that too many leaders are using to the limits by removing our rights in many areas of freedom. That freedom is painted with the blood of patriots. What might be next is the certain possibility of apostasy. Our Church will be on the chopping block as serious Christians and Jews fight to keep their beliefs in God intact. It has happened in other countries and when our way of life becomes part of an option by the rules of others, we may have to worship in secret.
The past may well be coming alive and if we do not stand up for our belief in God through His Son Jesus Christ, we shall repeat it.
