My Awakening Moment on the Value of Suffering
From time to time, my spiritual mentors remind me that true holiness is wholeness. What do I mean by that?
Is there an area of your life where you feel less whole? We all have one, and when Lent is done well, it illuminates those areas for us.
Perhaps there’s a void or incompleteness in your relationship with God and/or others. Maybe it’s a gift or talent that’s gone undeveloped or unused for God’s purposes. Maybe you have a wound that hasn’t been healed -- bodily or emotionally -- that needs some attention. It could also be an area of sin or weakness that hasn’t yet been repented or overcome. Or perhaps it’s an unrealized calling or vocation that you haven’t yet responded to, or are still waiting for God to reveal.
These are where God may be calling you to greater wholeness: becoming all you can be for Him.
As these areas of my life are chipped away at, I find that I become more whole, and as I become more whole, holiness naturally is the fruit. They go hand in hand.
Strive after “wholey-ness” -- the path to holiness!
