We Never Lose Our Value in God's Eyes
Life and Existing
Another overcast, dreary day in pandemic 2021;
No sun, no light, no sense of fun.
The present is like nothing, the future uncertain;
We are existing, not living, like living in sin.
Riches, things, all immoral pleasures-
These have been our source of happiness.
Have these things brought us contentment ?
Have our hearts been frozen, been tainted?
Our temporal body has become a desert.
Desolate, empty of true life with Christ,
Needing to be filled with something fine,
Something other than food and wine.
To live, yes, to live the life ordained by Christ,
Along the saintly path He did set out
Buying our salvation with His costly redemption,
Hopefully ending with our true reconciliation.
Lent begins the process, the way to new life;
Leaving behind discord, seeking harmony, not strife.
Jesus too began his new beginning in the desert,
The devil lodging there to instill dissension, hurt.
We are begging to come home to the Lord,
He too left home to bring us in accord.
A new beginning, to be free from sin,
A way forward, being reconciled, is a win.
Our inner home can hold eternal life
Love, not unnecessary worldly strife
Can fill the space freed up for him.
Jesus becomes the center, our next of kin.
