Celebrate the Sacred Heart of Jesus!
We prepare for nearly everything in our lives. Not only for today, but for tomorrow all of the way to retirement. We are always preparing. And that is a good thing to do, but do we prepare spiritually? We have a soul and we should take good care of it today, tomorrow, and all of the way to our death. And while death is not fun to think of, thinking of it does help, just like thinking of retirement.
We think of retirement because we do not want to be left poor and homeless when we are older and possibly unable to work. Well, death is our spiritual retirement of sorts. We do not want to be left poor and homeless spiritually in Hell. In Heaven, all of the true, everlasting riches exist. “[S]tore up treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor decay destroys, nor thieves break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there also will your heart be.” [Matthew 6:20-21]
While your retirement funds and plans could be destroyed, your eternal retirement cannot be destroyed. Our home is in Heaven with Our Father. Are we paying more attention to our earthly retirement that could be destroyed and lasts for but a little while or our eternal retirement which cannot be destroyed and lasts for eternity?
Jesus, help us to prepare for our eternal retirement with You. Amen.
