Pope Francis Sends Ventilators to Columbia After Record COVID Deaths
Pope Francis has donated ventilators and PPEs to Columbian hospitals after the country recorded 420 Covid -19 deaths in 24hrs on April 20.
Columbia, a country of 50 million people, has recorded 68,700 Covid-19 related deaths since February 2020.
The four ventilators and the PPEs were sent to hospitals in Quibdó, western Colombia.
“This gesture highlights the continuous solicitude of Pope Francis for Colombia in many areas and expresses his concern for all the Churches,” Bishop Juan Carlos Barreto Barreto of Quibdó said.
Pope Francis has previously donated medical equipment to other countries including Brazil, Spain, and Romania.
