The Hard Work of Day to Day Loving
“How do I hear God’s voice in the chaos?” someone asked me recently.
Whether it’s inner or outer chaos like distress, clamor, anxiety, or busyness, chaos is part of our lives. It’s a reality we all have to face, and many don’t know how to hear God’s voice in the midst of this.
Many days are terribly busy in my life, and I’ll admit that they aren’t very free of anxieties either. Although I make time for prayer each day, sometimes the clearest time I hear God’s voice is in that first moment of silence when I hit the pillow at night. Often, it’s a reassuring word of love and hope.
“My sheep hear my voice,” Jesus says. He assures us believers that we can and will hear His voice. Time in the spiritual life has taught me that God’s voice can be found in all places and situations, and perhaps most clearly in a moment of rest and silence.
If you are struggling to hear His voice, claim a moment of rest and silence, and just listen, because the Good Shepherd always wants to talk to His sheep.
