Pope Francis on Thursday received Fr. John Connor, the general director of the Legionaries of Christ in a private audience.
In a note sent to the Legionaries after the Thursday meeting, Fr. John Connor said the meeting “filled him with joy and renewed in him the importance of filial love for the Holy Father as one of the principal characteristics of our spirit.”
A statement released by the Legionaries of Christ said Fr. John Connor informed Pope Francis about the “steps taken in the path of renewal” and “asked him for light and advice in the task that he has been entrusted with.”
The statement said Father Connor shared with the Holy Father “the steps taken in the path of renewal that the Congregation of the Legionaries of Christ and Regnum Christi are following, as well as asked him for light and advice in the task that he has been entrusted with.”
At the end of the meeting, Father Connor asked for the Pope’s blessing for the entire Regnum Christi family.
Father John offered his gratitude to the Legionaries of Christ priests and brothers for the various “initiatives that promote his Magisterium and his teachings.” He encouraged them to” continue promoting all that we can do in this regard.”
