“Human life must be respected and protected absolutely from the moment of conception. From the first moment of his existence, a human being must be recognized as having the rights of a person-among which is the inviolable right of every innocent being to life.” CCC 2270
“Whatever its motives and means, direct euthanasia consists in putting an end to the lives of handicapped, sick, or dying persons. It is morally unacceptable.” CCC 2277
Since the Catholic Catechism of the Catholic Church is the official and doctrinal means to guide the bishops of the Church, those who deem it unnecessary to adhere to its dictates and teach or ignore its mandates are placing their own souls in jeopardy. This is applicable to politicians as well.
“For your lifeblood I will surely require a reckoning…….Whoever sheds the blood of man shall his blood be shed; for God made man in his own image.” Gen. 9: 5-6
“Human life is sacred because from its beginning it involves the creative action of God and it remains for ever in a special relationship with the Creator, who is its sole end. God alone is the Lord of Life from its beginning until its end: no one can under any circumstance claim for himself the right directly to destroy an innocent human being.” CCC 2258
The bishops are in a dilemma and will need to take a stand on the one controversy facing them; how to address the political acceptance of abortion on demand under the present Biden Administration. Should Holy Communion be given to these politicians who are advocates for the killing of babies who are already human at every step of their unprotected lives beginning with conception? One thought being passed around is the final decision may rest with individual bishops. However, even though Jesus wasn’t a member of a group making decisions he wasn’t held back from telling the Scribes and Pharisees they were wrong when it came to missing the point about God. Where will the Church be in not too many years from now when God’s Law must be followed, and there is no one left who will enforce the Moral Law?
Jeremiah was sent to correct the wishy washy teaching from the priests of his day. God became angry when they failed in their duty to lead the people towards God and away from Baal.
“Perhaps they will listen and turn back, each from his evil way, so that I may repent of the evil I have planned to inflict upon them for their evil deeds.” Jer. 27: 3
“When Jeremiah finished speaking all that the Lord bade him speak to all of the people, the priests and prophets laid hold of him, crying, You must be put to death! Why do you prophesy in the name of the Lord: This house shall be like Shiloh, and this city shall be desolate and deserted?” Jer. 27: 8-9.
The people believed Jeremiah and turned back to God, who relented in his promise to destroy them. Will the direction we may be plummeting towards end up without hope or turn to God and His commandments of the sanctity of life? cf Jer. 16 ff.
The far left in Washington is already deep into anti-life procedures and for the elderly (like myself) euthanasia is quickly a future procedure on the horizon. There will be more political promoted issues that will turn the heads of all of us, but the right-to-life issues stand as the most heinous we face and what to do about supporting the Biden Administration’s carte blanche ideals, and the powerful teaching of the Catholic Church? Rome must make a decision!
