Living The Worthy Life: The Three R's Of The Mass Relevance, Reverence, and Religious Education
Brothers and sisters - the biggest lie that Satan tells us is that he does not exist. If you live every day, one day at a time, and never make time for God, most of the time you spend on earth will be serving whom? Would that be Satan or God?
What many people may not know is that God has a plan for each and every one of us. Our job is to seek out and find what that plan is, find out our talents and put them to work on God's team, not in the hereafter but in the here and now. We are not waiting for the future, the future is now. The future is in your hands. In fact, your hands are God's hands here on earth. We see this in this passage here:
When I came to you, brothers, proclaiming the mystery of God, I did not come with the sublimity of words or of wisdom. For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ, and him crucified. I came to you in weakness and fear and much trembling, and my message and my proclamation were not with persuasive (words of) wisdom, but with a demonstration of spirit and power so that your faith might rest not on human wisdom but on the power of God. Yet we do speak wisdom to those who are mature, but not the wisdom of this age, nor of the rulers of this age who are passing away. Rather, we speak of God's wisdom, mysterious, hidden, which God predetermined before the ages for our glory, and which none of the rulers of this age knew; for if they had known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. But as it is written: “What eye has not seen, and ear has not heard, and what has not entered the human heart, what God has prepared for those who love him,” this God has revealed to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit scrutinizes everything, even the depths of God. 1 Corinthians 2:1-10
Brothers and sisters, in this reading, we see exactly what it means to have faith. We learn that your faith does not rest on human wisdom, it rests on the power of God. Think about it, is knowing that God is God enough? Does not Satan know that God is God? Knowledge without works is a recipe for spiritual death in this world and the next. We must never give up or surrender to Satan. Satan, as a fallen angel, does not sleep. He does not need rest.
Speaking about resting, I ask you to stand up, stand up for our Lord and stand up for our Savior Jesus Christ. Stand up for what is right and most of all stand up and fight against Satan. Thank you, thank you very much. Please have a seat.
Why did I do this? Why did I ask you to stand up? Brother and sisters, we have rested too long in this fight. We must make a stand and do what is right, We must battle Satan at all costs because if we do not all that we hold dear will suffer.
You see what is at stake here. The answer is simple and it clearly can be seen in this reading. God did not create you to be inactive. God did not create you to sit there and do nothing. God created you with two feet to use them. God created you to stand so you would not sit on the bench of life and to participate in your everyday life. Life is worth living. It is more than a TV show, it is my passion. It is my reason for existence. We are players, we were not meant to sit on the bench. We all have starting roles in this game of life. All we have to do is to listen to Jesus.
Have you heard the Lord recently?
The cover of Time Magazine April 8, 1968, asked if God Was Dead. I am standing before you today that God is not dead. He did not leave and He never will. These are lies, lies, and more lies spread by Satan himself.
This concept is further supported by reading that the mystery of God: God’s secret, known only to himself, is his plan for the salvation of his people.
Before we leave this particular reading and thought let us remember these two passages:
The Lord of Hosts has sworn: “As I have planned, so shall it be, and as I have purposed, so shall it stand. – Isaiah 14:24
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. – Ephesians 2:10
Clearly, we can see that God is not dead. He has a plan for us, and we need to actively participate in that plan.
Now, let us turn our attention to people who do not follow the Lord and do not keep their word:
Whoever has my commandments and observes them is the one who loves me. And whoever loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and reveal myself to him.” Judas, not the Iscariot, said to him, “Master, (then) what happened that you will reveal yourself to us and not to the world?” Jesus answered and said to him, “Whoever loves me will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our dwelling with him. Whoever does not love me does not keep my words, yet the word you hear is not mine but that of the Father who sent me. “I have told you this while I am with you. The Advocate, the Holy Spirit that the Father will send in my name–he will teach you everything and remind you of all that (I) told you. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give it to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled or afraid. John 14:21-27
If you love me, keep my commandments. John 14:15
Clearly, brothers and sisters, we see that God meant for us to be active. We are also supposed to love God and keep our commitments to Him. Remember what G.K. Chesterton said about the belief in God, “But the truth is that it is only by believing in God that we can ever criticize the Government. Once abolish the God, and the Government becomes the God.¨
Was Chesterton right? We need God more now than ever. Remember, we need to be active. We can not and we will not take a back seat in our own lives! G.K. Chesterton explained this when he wrote: Christianity has not been tried and found wanting; it has been found difficult and not tried.
This would be hard, but brothers and sisters we must, we shall, and we will fight Satan every day, everywhere, we are. We are not safe if we are not listening to Jesus Christ, following his teachings, and following His plan for us. Is Satan winning his battle for you? If he is, change. Change today before it is too late. Change today so that your future will be assured now and forever.
Amen
