Please Call Sin a Sin
Father Michael Suhy reported to his Bishop that a Detroit archdiocesan employee was grooming and sexually harassing a young man at his parish. Fr. Suhy is no longer pastor at his parish.
Father Eduard Perrone was falsely accused of sodomizing a young boy over five decades ago. The Vatican dismissed the case against Fr. Perrone because after its review, it believed it had no merit. He has yet to be reinstated to his parish.
Last November, Father James Altman released a viral video where he stated that "You cannot be Catholic and a Democrat. Period." He stated that Democrats are supporters of abortion. You cannot support Democrats (or any politician) who publicly supports abortion. He has also been very critical of Bishops who denied Catholics the sacraments during the pandemic. He has recently been removed as pastor of his parish and has been stripped of his priesthood.
Father Paul Kalchik was forced out of his parish as a pastor in Chicago for burning a sacrilegious rainbow banner that once hung over the altar of his parish.
Fr. Clay Hunt was stripped of his priesthood for warning the homosexual mayor of his town of the spiritual dangers of his very public lifestyle of supporting sodomy.
Father Jeff Fasching was removed from his ministry due to complaints made by a few of his parishioners, never being told who was complaining or what they were complaining about.
You are all well aware of the Church’s teaching on homosexuality (CCC 2357). Whether you agree with it or not is not relevant to this discussion. A Catholic priest was proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ by stating a church teaching. For this, many priests are persecuted by their bishops for simply proclaiming the truth.
It’s a terrible fact that over half of all priests, bishops, and even cardinals, are either homosexuals themselves, cover up for their buddies, or look the other way. While working at St. Michael's Media/Church Militant, I have personally met most of these aforementioned priests. I met many other priests and seminarians who visited the studio telling their stories of false accusations by their bishops. These men are chastised for simply preaching the truth as revealed by Jesus Christ through the Catholic Church.
In the current world, the battle cry of modernism leads the charge for the intentional break against tradition in all matters especially religion, politics, and social views. Modernism promotes that the world is what we say it is and how we perceive it; that there is no absolute truth, only relative truth; that all religions are created equal; and that religion is not about truth and teachings, but about feelings.
The Catholic Church is supposed to stand up against modernism. However, many priests and prelates believe meeting people "where they are at" instead of calling them to repentance with hard truth is a better approach to winning souls. This means that many bishops and the priests they manage will not be inclined to preach about hard truths nor to call a sin a sin. Did you ever hear a homily on the sins of abortion, homosexuality, masturbation, or pre-marital sex/fornication? Instead, you hear homilies filled with meaningless cliches and personal stories about quotes from great friends. How about quoting a saint?
This approach has miserably failed. Just look at falling church attendance, the falling number of baptisms and marriages year over year, and the closing of churches and Catholic schools over the past four decades.
“Pope Paul VI openly agonized in the 1970s about the smoke of Satan entering the sanctuary. That smoke has caused a fog of confusion and even chaos among the innocent. It has resulted in many souls being lost. Many more are trapped in doubt, ignorance and fear owing to uncaring shepherds and hirelings (https://www.churchmilitant.com/video/episode/vort-2016-06-16).”
In June 2018, a credible report of sexual abuse of a minor in the sacristy of St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York before midnight Mass 45 years ago was made against then Fr. Theodore McCarrick. In August 2018, Archbishop Carlo Maria Vigano released a “testimony” of his knowledge of McCarrick’s exploits. “I had always believed and hoped that the hierarchy of the Church could find within itself the spiritual resources and strength to tell the whole truth, to amend and to renew itself,” said Vigano. “That is why…I always avoided making statements to the media….But now that the corruption has reached the very top of the Church’s hierarchy, my conscience dictates that I reveal those truths regarding the heart-breaking case of the Archbishop Emeritus of Washington, D.C., Theodore McCarrick, which I came to know in the course of the duties entrusted to me by St. John Paul II, as Delegate for Pontifical Representations, from 1998 to 2009, and by Pope Benedict XVI, as Apostolic Nuncio to the United States of America, from October 19, 2011 until end of May 2016. (https://www.churchmilitant.com/news/article/archbishop-viganos-testimony).”
It turns out it was a poorly kept secret among laity, priests, and prelates that Cardinal McCarrick was a serial sexual abuser, including abusing seminarians at his beach house in New Jersey. High-ranking clergy were well aware of McCarrick’s exploits for decades. They all covered it up. McCarrick was finally defrocked in February, 2019.
So, beware of this great crisis in the Catholic Church today. Be aware of fake priests and prelates who won’t call a sin a sin. Be aware of liturgical abuses at Mass: female altar servers and lectors; “eucharistic ministers” (receive only from a priest or ordained deacon); Holy Communion in the hand (receive only on the tongue); confession only on Saturdays or by appointment (what is wrong with having confession on Sundays either before, during, or after Mass?); and homilies with personal stories. Flee from these fake churches run by fake priests and entrust yourself to a pastor who believes in the Real Presence of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist and who will have the courage to call a sin a sin.
