Maronites Part Three: Influences 12th through 14th Centuries On The Maronite Church
U Are The One: Word For The Last Days That You Have To Read
You cannot hope to build a better world without improving the individuals.
— Marie Curie
Today, we will take a closer look at the individual and why you are important. Many of us think I am just one person. What can I do?
In fact, President Franklin Roosevelt echoed these remarks when he said,” People acting together as a group can accomplish things which no individual acting alone could ever hope to bring about.”
The interesting thing about this quote is that FDR did say it, but look more closely at it- the core of the idea which is more important the group or the individual you must remember is that it takes individual actions for a group to form. It takes individual actions for a group to act. In fact anything a group does this through a group of individuals.
A great example of this would be this modern version of Martin Niemöller's poem- They Came For the Jews. This new poem is entitled, Who Am I and Why Are They After Me?
Who Am I and Why Are They After Me?
They came to take away the people who did not have their vaccines
I did not protest because I had my vaccines.
They came to pick up your guns,
I did not protest because I did not own one.
They came to change what we teach in our schools
I did not protest because I had no children in school.
They came to tell our churches what the Priest could say in his homily
I did not protest because I did not go to church.
They came to shut down our churches
I did not protest because I did not go to church.
Then they came for me
Why would they come after me, what did I do?
Brothers and sisters, who am I?
Let me make this perfectly clear- I am you. You are the most important part of God’s plan here on earth. Now saying that we have to start believing and acting like that as well.
Brothers and sisters, you are the one. You are important both in God’s eyes and for the future of our society. Do not be fooled into believing the big lie. Do not fall for the concept that you are just one person and one person can not possibly do anything about anything. Remember one person can and did a great deal for you. Was it not one person who saved us from death to everlasting life? Was it not one person, Jesus Christ, who encouraged us to follow his lead, follow his teachings, and follow his examples?
We are in deep trouble today. We are not doing exactly that. We are not following Christ’s lead, examples, or his words. Each week we consume the Real Presence- the Body and Blood of Christ. In essence, the Church Service (Divine Liturgy or Mass), is the place where we are able to experience the real essence of Christ. The problem is simply this in this day and age and with the adversarial warfare we are experiencing right now, can we simply have the people on Christ’s team just happy to ride the bench or not wanting to join the fight? Can we?
No, no, no. This is the time and this is the place to draw your line in the sand and say enough is enough. We must collectively work together to accomplish what God would like us to do. As you can see through the Holy Bible. God works through us. This is a simple yet powerful message that resonates with people. It resonates because the person who willingly accepts and acts on it has to be you. You, you, and only you. No substitutes.
Here is what Paul told the early Church in the Letter of Ephesians.
Ephesians 3:17-21
17 so that Christ may live in your hearts through faith, and then, planted in love and built on love,
18 with all God's holy people you will have the strength to grasp the breadth and the length, the height and the depth;
19 so that, knowing the love of Christ, which is beyond knowledge, you may be filled with the utter fullness of God.
20 Glory be to him whose power, working in us, can do infinitely more than we can ask or imagine;
21 glory be to him from generation to generation in the Church and in Christ Jesus forever and ever. Amen.
Chapter 4: 1-6
1 I, the prisoner in the Lord, urge you therefore to lead a life worthy of the vocation to which you were called.
2 With all humility and gentleness, and with patience, support each other in love.
3 Take every care to preserve the unity of the Spirit by the peace that binds you together.
4 There is one Body, one Spirit, just as one hope is the goal of your calling by God.
5 There is one Lord, one faith, one baptism,
6 and one God and Father of all, overall, through all and within all.
We are one with Christ, one with the Church, and one with each other. We Are one, we are individuals- not mindless members of a group blindly following the paths of Satan and this world. When you read this can you have any question in your mind about why it is vitally important to win over this generation? The generation that is currently coming up. We are here on earth not to have a good time but we are here to Love, Worship and Obey His law. Can we serve two masters? Should we allow our actions here on earth to negatively impact our future in the next life? Is a temporary fix worth a permanent tournament or damnation? I say not.
Then wake up out of your sleep. Pull yourself together and get with God’s program. Get back into Church, make sure you and your family partake in all of the Sacraments and begin the tasks that God wants you to do. You are a precious individual on God’s team. Do not forget this fact. Amen. Comment below.
