Do We Have a Puny God?
The Act of Creating
When we attempt to “prove” there is a God, we come at it from the wrong direction. Usually, when trying to “defend” the existence of the Almighty, we dwell on what He has created. “Look,” we say, “see the universe and the infinite number of grains of sand on the beach? The Creator has wrought these things into being. There, then, is your proof.” But when I hear that, I want to say, “So? See how man also “creates”? He, too, makes things. You can know man by what he produces. What sets God apart from merely the act of creating Something is that He created Nothing first. Are you digesting that? Can you wrap your mind around the phrase, ‘created Nothing’? What man can create Nothing? What man can even conceive the essence of Nothingness? I doubt he’d even know where to begin.
