“Seek Ye First the Kingdom of God”

A very inspiring song, based on Matthew 6: 33 ff, written by Karen Lafferty in 1972 should touch the hearts of all who sing it.  From the passages following the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus teaches several attributes or guidance to important steps in following God’s Will.

Verse 25 and following of chapter 6 from Matthew, we learn the need to adherence of dependence on God.  This last couple of sentences with 32b - 34 should be taken to heart when reading or especially singing completes a welcome mandate in God’s never-ending sufficiency to answer all of our needs.

Besides the heart-warming feeling from the melody the infusion of this message brings to mind what is happening in the topsy-turvy society that is going to get worse with all the anti-God elements that increase daily with our government.  Bad enough our leaders are pro-choice with spiritual decisions which annul God’s teaching, they also are indoctrinating the basic teaching of our Constitution especially those Articles that allow freedoms for all peoples.  

Remember the Preamble to the Constitution:  “We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.”  September 17, 1787.  By the way, defence is spelled with a c in lieu of an s.

Is our government following each or all of these attributes listed in the Preamble as printed?  Or are the Powers that Be deciding too many of these terms are old fashioned and met the needs in 1787 but not 2021.  

We are living in a very seriously questionable existence with Socialism/Communism knocking at our door.  The need to seek guidance and intervention from God is needed.  However that’s what our elected members of Congress in connection with the President are supposed to be doing.  If our governing persons are doing their elected mandates, God’s guidance is active through their hands.  

Analyze for yourselves the truth that these leaders should be performing, or to the untruth that is issuing from the mouths of most in Washington and watch a once Democracy turn into a vibrant Dictatorship that follows Marxism to a T.
