Addressing Issues of Life from the Pulpit
COMMON GOOD OR COMMON EVIL
Should I or should I not get “the poke.” Do I listen to Dr. Fauci, who changes positions like we all change our underwear? Do I let the government dictate what I put into my body, especially with a vaccine that has not adequately tested for side effects? Do I take a shot that in the future might cause permanent damage while the company that produces it is held harmless? My answer is a resounding NO and not just for those reasons. I refuse to be forced into sin taking a vaccine using fetal cells from aborted babies in its testing.
I cannot fathom how church leaders can openly promote the vaccine knowing how it was tested. I don’t know how they remain silent while politicians and employers are forcing people to get the shot or lose their job and means of supporting themselves and their families. How can they remain silent when hospitals turn away people who need lifesaving surgeries, such as transplants, because they haven’t had the vaccine? If those people die, isn’t that in actuality a form of euthanasia?
Abortion is a sin; therefore, taking this vaccine is fruit of the poisonous tree. The church seems to be watering down this particular sin and claiming it is “for the common good.” Isn’t that telling the flock that abortion is okay as long as it is for the common good? What about euthanasia by refusing lifesaving treatment, is that too considered the common good? What other sins will be acceptable down the road - adultery, gay marriage, premarital sex? Will we be forced to accept those or suffer the consequences? I think perhaps the phrase “common good” actually means “common evil.”
I am not condemning those who are vaccinated. Some are forced because of their jobs, to be able to visit loved ones in hospitals/nursing homes, needing medical treatment or to travel. Regardless of the reason, that choice should be respected as should ours. We who are refusing the vaccine are defending our faith and freedom and willing to stand up for those who can’t. We should not be considered uncaring and irresponsible. We do not deserve to be demonized, ostracized, denied medical treatment, or limited to where we can go.
