Mother's Day - The Missing Call
The recent meeting between the Pope and President Biden is causing a great deal of confusion. The President smugly announced His Holiness assured him he was "a good Catholic and should continue to receive Communion." My immediate thought was the claim had to be a blatant lie, just another one added to his growing list. This "Catholic" President supports abortion and other issues contrary to the teachings of the Church. What concerns me is the Pope's silence. It is deafening. Shouldn't he state that Mr. Biden misled the public and that his words and actions DO contradict Church teachings?
If His Holiness remains silent, does that confirm the President's claim? Does that mean people in power can arbitrarily be granted immunity and continue to receive sacraments while in a state of sin? Perhaps the Pope should reread Matthew 18:6: "If anyone causes one of these little ones—those who believe in me—to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea."
The faithful deserve answers.
