Pass the Wine! Oh, Ain't None.
From Jeremiah 29 we are given this awesome promise--
11 For I know well the plans I have in mind for you—oracle of the LORD—plans for your welfare and not for woe, so as to give you a future of hope. 12 When you call me, and come and pray to me, I will listen to you. 13 When you look for me, you will find me. Yes, when you seek me with all your heart, 14 I will let you find me—oracle of the LORD—and I will change your lot; I will gather you together from all the nations and all the places to which I have banished you—oracle of the LORD—and bring you back to the place from which I have exiled you.
Plans to prosper us—down to the very last detail. However a very Wise Father spoke these Words in Jeremiah 7
23 This rather is what I commanded them: Listen to my voice; then I will be your God and you shall be my people. Walk exactly in the way I command you, so that you may prosper.
24 But they did not listen to me, nor did they pay attention. They walked in the stubbornness of their evil hearts and turned their backs, not their faces, to me. 25 From the day that your ancestors left the land of Egypt even to this day, I kept on sending all my servants the prophets to you. 26 Yet they have not listened to me nor have they paid attention; they have stiffened their necks and done worse than their ancestors. 27 When you speak all these words to them, they will not listen to you either. When you call to them, they will not answer you. 28 Say to them: This is the nation which does not listen to the voice of the LORD, its God, or take correction. Faithfulness has disappeared; the word itself is banished from their speech.”
God knows that within us is this rebellious, stubborn heart. It is up to us to decide and to decide once and for all if we want to walk in the fullness of His plan for us or continue to be referred to as a stiff neck people.
What are the reasons why we do not surrender completely to His Will and to obedience to what He asks of us? Fear of the unknown for one. Pride, that leads us to think we ‘know what to do and how to do it. Pride also has us thinking—‘What will others think of me, and will I be acceptable and admired by friends and co workers?’
Doubt or lack of faith, lack of trust---and a deep sense of insecurity—that has us feeling, does God really love me, or am I worthy of that awesome love that wants to do all things for me?
Anger—for we have been so deeply hurt by life and others that we may blame the God of all knowing Love and Goodness for allowing such hurtful events to happen to begin with.
What is keeping you from entering into the fullness of His plan to prosper your life? Why do you find yourself stiffing up at the suggestion of inviting God to take control and asking the Holy Spirit to come in and lead and guide you in your daily life? Now is the time of choosing humbly and wisely lest you be among those found weeping as you remember His final warning from Jeremiah 13—
A Last Warning
“15 Listen and give ear, do not be arrogant, for the LORD speaks.
16 Give glory to the LORD, your God, before he brings darkness;
Before your feet stumble on mountains at twilight;
Before the light you look for turns to darkness, changes into black clouds.
17 If you do not listen to this in your pride, I will weep many tears in secret;
My eyes will run with tears for the LORD’s flock, led away to exile.”
Dearest Beloved—The Word of the Lord—given this day because God Loves you! Hear it, rejoice in the fact that He has sent it to you---YES to YOU!!
