Saint Jude Thaddaeus was one of the 12 apostles and cousin of Jesus. At the last supper, St Jude he asked Jesus why He would not reveal Himself to the whole world after His resurrection. Little was known about his life but we know he was martyred and sufferred persecution. After his death his bones were sent to Saint Peter's Basilica in Vacitan City and remain there to this day. They are located in a tomb, under the main altar of St. Joseph. He lies next to another apostle, Simon the Zealot.
Images of Saint Jude often include a flame around his head, which represent his presence at Pentecost where he was accepted by the Holy Spirit along with the other apostles.
A popular Catholic prayer to Saint Jude is: "O most holy apostle, Saint Jude, faithful servant and friend of Jesus, the Church honoureth and invoketh thee universally, as the patron of hopeless cases, and of things almost despaired of. Pray for me, who am so miserable."
