God is Still on His Throne

In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world . . . And everyone went to their own town to register. (Luke 2:1,3)

Caesar probably thought it was his idea to mandate a census. He was a fool to think so.

What really happened was that God put the idea into Caesar’s mind so Joseph and Mary would have to travel to Bethlehem. Why Bethlehem? To fulfill the prophecy of Micah which promised the Messiah would be born in Bethlehem. (Micah 5:2)

In other words, God manipulated the powerful Caesar, as a marionette pulls strings to make a puppet move and dance.

Caesar’s big mistake was he did not believe the words of Scripture: “The king’s heart is like channels of water in the hand of the Lord; He turns it wherever He wishes.” (Proverbs 21:1)

Fast forward to 2021. In the same way Caesar Augustus was a fool, all the politically powerful men and women today, regardless of their titles or positions, are also fools to also think they are not like channels of water in God’s hands.

The truth is – inconvenient as the truth might be to them – God is simply manipulating them to bring about His prophetic plan leading to the return of His Son, Jesus.

Christian, take courage. God is still on His throne. And He is very, very active in world affairs. Things might seem like they are falling apart. But they are not. They are falling into place.

Child of God by faith in Jesus’ atonement for your sins, do not fear. Do not let the worries of the world dissuade you from continuing your efforts to tell others the good news that YOU have discovered. Don’t cease telling them of God’s offer of total forgiveness to all who humbly come to Christ, forsaking their sins, and serving Him the rest of their days.
