The poem below is an excerpt from Christina M. Sorrentino's newest book, Belonging to Christ, which is a collection of poetry that shares the Catholic faith and experiences of a millennial woman in the twenty-first century as she journeys on the walk in holy cadence towards the beautiful gates of heaven. The poem reflects on the anticipation of Christ coming into the world.
In the fullness of time
it was long foretold
by the holy prophets of Israel.
Behold the King
sent forth from His throne,
the Divine Messiah.
Christ is the Logos,
the Eternal Word;
Incarnate utterance of God.
In the days of Herod
came forth the Living Bread
within the town of Bethlehem.
Born of the Virgin,
He is the Fruit of her womb,
called the Theanthropos; the God-man.
And lo, the angels spoke
of Love’s ultimate token;
the chains and shackles of sin to be broken.
He lay in the manger
swaddled like a lamb.
He is the Savior, Christ the Lord.
