The Awesome Insignificance of Love
With growing awareness,
I realize Your imminent arrival.
Too soon, my blessed one, too soon.
Your earthly father searches still.
“No room, no room!” they cry.
Where, then?
Where will you lay your tiny head?
Here, beside oxen and sheep?
My womb no longer can contain
Your infinite magnificence.
“It is time, it is time!” I cry.
“Dear husband, hurry!”
The little one waits not.
God’s Plan will unfold.
A simple stable must do.
I tremble with eagerness
and awe.
This humble place is clean but cold.
Overwhelmed, I marvel at the mystery.
My life will never be the same,
But I have no fear.
What will be will be.
This fathomless reality.
Riding on waves of wonder and joy,
A tiny cry is heard.
Joseph lifts you up so I can see.
Your awesome individuality!
