In the middle of strife we find the essence of God
When the Finite meets the Infinite
This is Christmas when the Infinite essence of God comes in close proximity with the weak and needy humanity found in a stable at Bethlehem. From all eternity where the Trinity of a loving God chose to become one like us at the Incarnation of Christ. It is almost too far from reality that the creator of all that is has chosen to enter the world he made for us to dwell in.
If the Lord, Jesus, had suddenly appeared in our world as a Savior without becoming one like us who would have believed? He would preach forgiveness but who would believe? His pronouncement would fall on unbelieving ears since this savior couldn’t relate to his creatures who were totally flesh and blood.
Two important entities existed. One, unless this savior lived in a human body, thought like a human, and tasted the chastisements that humans experience, how could he relate as a human to a human?
Two, the sin against God needed to be forgiven but could only find recompense from another divine person. Man sinned against God but was unable to become the path to offer the sacrifice that would appease the sin.
The Incarnation provided the answer for the Lord to become that truth where God took on humanity through the Incarnation, and the cross would provide the divine suffering to pay the ransom and complete God’s plan to share his life and love with man.
This is what Christmas is about and why we worship this gift from Almighty God.
