Spiritual Direction: St. Rafqa
You have heard the saying, "Don't sweat the little things."
Thomas Edison said, " Genius is one percent inspiration and ninety-nine percent perspiration." If this is the case then we better get to work. The trouble may be that we do not sweat the little things enough. Today, we will apply this to our
daily view of life. Are we headed in the right direction for our earthly goals and our goals for the hereafter?
Here are ten bible verses that explain in depth why we need to stop and take time for the little things in life.
1 Peter 5:7 "Cast all your anxieties on him, for he cares about you."
Worry about the eternal and your worries here on earth will be greatly decreased as will your blessing in the hereafter greatly increase.
Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you, says the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope."
You only let God down when you fail to live up to the potential He has given us. We may not be successful in everything we do in life while on earth but we should live and do so that we are successful in the hereafter.
Romans 12:21 "Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good."
If we allow evil to overcome us now-think of reward we will have in the hereafter when evil becomes our eternal master.
Proverbs 3:5-6 "Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not rely on your own insight. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths."
We should put this into our practice on a daily basis while we are on this earth.
Joshua 1:9 "Be strong and of good courage; be not frightened, neither be dismayed; for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go."
God never leaves us, shouldn;t we do the same for Him.
Revelation 21:4 "he will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning nor crying nor pain any more, for the former things have passed away."
The things we miss here on this earth are fleeting compared to life in the hereafter.
Deuteronomy 31:6 "Be strong and of good courage, do not fear or be in dread of them: for it is the LORD your God who goes with you; he will not fail you or forsake you."
Trust in the Lord in this world and your reward will be a better life here and in the hereafter.
Matthew 6:20-21 "lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consumes and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there will be your heart also."
You are what you desire. Change your desires to eternal things and you will see your life change now and forever.
Matthew 7:7 "Ask, and it will be given you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you."
Out of sight-out of mind. Many times we should worry about what we ask for-shouldn't it be at the front of our mind.
Psalm 119:105 "Thy word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path." God's words show us the way to go and the way back to Him.
Babe Ruth said it best when he said, “It's hard to beat a person who never gives up.” It will take hard work to get back to our Heavenly Father. He lit the way, He is the Truth, know we have to do our part. Are you ready? Are you ready to walk with the Lord?
Then get to work. Amen
