Fides et Ratio
In their January 6th speeches, Biden and Harris referred to the Capitol as “hallowed ground” and a “sacred place.” (It’s interesting how, when church and state are unnaturally cleaved, the hallmarks of religion are necessarily bestowed upon the state.) If the Capitol was, in fact, ever a hallowed and sacred space, it certainly hasn’t been for a very long time. (For his part, Biden might do well to concern himself more about the Book of Life than the book in Clio’s hands.)
As politicians recounted the fear they felt on that day, as those with bad intentions drew nearer, I couldn’t help but think of the stolen lives of tens of millions of innocents. (For the womb actually IS a hallowed and sacred place.) Flagpoles and fire extinguishers are little compared to forceps and saline solutions. Throughout Biden’s rehearsed dramatic delivery, all I could think was, “We reap what we sow, brother.”
