The Gift of the Real Presence
“In the most blessed sacrament of the Eucharist "the body and blood, together with the soul and divinity, of our Lord Jesus Christ and, therefore, the whole Christ is truly, really, and substantially contained." "This presence is called 'real' - by which is not intended to exclude the other types of presence as if they could not be 'real' too, but because it is presence in the fullest sense: that is to say, it is a substantial presence by which Christ, God and man, makes himself wholly and entirely present.” (CCC, 1374)
BVM Blue Mantle Productions is preparing for the at home release of Eucharistic Miracles, which is a “cinematic journey through live action Bible reenactments and the miracles of the Eucharist utilizing 3D medical animation.” It will be a universal documentary about Eucharistic Miracles and the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist. Currently, Eucharistic Miracles is in production, and updates about its progress are available on the film’s website.
Catholic means “universal,” and so the goal of this film is to make the feature truly universal in that it will be available to souls across the world by being translated into 14 different languages. There is a lack of belief in the Real Presence among Catholics around the globe, where only 69% of Catholics believe that Jesus is truly present in the Eucharist; His Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity. There is a significant need to answer the call to help the universal Church by promoting the belief in the Real Presence among the lost and straying Catholics. Ray Grijalba, writer and interviewer for the film, and creator of the YouTube Channel, “The Joy of the Faith” and Angelo Libutti, Director of the film, and member of an Oscar winning team in animation and special effect and Oscar nominee team in storyboards and art directing have stepped up to the plate. Also, accompanying Ray and Angelo in this endeavor are Disney and Lucasfilms animators who will help bring to life what words simply cannot explain.
The film will incorporate the best visual effects and graphics team. The aim is to enable the viewers to visually observe a medical explanation of the theological elements that cannot be seen by the naked eye. The 3D visual effects will focus on the several main patterns that are observed in Eucharistic miracles; How the Eucharist became heart tissue, the heart tissue is living, how the heart tissue is suffering, and DNA of the heart tissue cannot be identified with current technology. The final goal of the visual effects and graphics team is to be able to show the audience a simulation of transubstantiation; the bread and wine being transformed into the Body and Blood of Christ.
The second major stage of the documentary will be filming live action and historical scenes. It will include three historical and powerful scenes of early Christians and the Eucharist. The scenes will involve real animals, real actors, and three amazing film destinations. With extra funding the hope is to be able to film a fourth scene; the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.
The most essential stage of the film will be Hollywood compositing and special effects for live action. There is the desire to be able to have an epic outlook to scene where Christ performs miracles, or when there is a need to re-create an environment in a computer generated 3D world. Filming has already begun in various locations, which includes Franciscan University, Tixtla, Poland, and Lanciano.
There will be seven hours of clergy and theologian interviews that will be made available under the bonus features on the DVD or will be made available on the Christian Channel. Dr. Scott Hahn has already joined the Eucharistic Miracles team, along with Cardinal Arinze, Dr. Carlos Parellada (the surgeon who closely studied the Eucharistic Miracle in Tixtla), Deacon Harold Burke-Sivers, Dr. Eduardo Sanchez Lazo (the doctor who examined the Eucharistic Miracle in Tixtla), Dr. Tracy Trasancos (the Executive Director of the St. Philip Institute of Catechesis and Evangelization Tyler, TX), Fr. Donald Calloway (Author of the book, Consecration to St. Joseph), Dr. Taylor Marshall, Bishop Tyler Strickland, Fr. Ripperger, Lila Rose, and Tim Staples.
The Eucharistic Miracles team will travel around the world to have the opportunity to interview the doctors that analyzed the Eucharistic Miracles. The goal is to ask all of the questions that believers and non believers alike would ask these professionals with regards to the Eucharistic Miracles.
This film with the help of God’s grace will lead the audience; whether believers or non-believers, to deepen their relationship with Christ and to have a more meaningful relationship with Him. Let us pray for the intercession of Blessed Carlo Acutis and St. Padre Pio to inspire those who see the film to believe in the Real Presence of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist, and to accept the most precious gift that we have received on this earth, this Sacrament of Love.
