The Greatest Challenge Facing Christianity Today: Persecucutions Of Christians and How We Are Handling It
Spiritual Direction: Who, What, and How To Be A Servant Of Our Lord Jesus Christ
Jesus’ parable in Luke Chapter 12: 35-41 helps people today to understand much more about the importance of spiritual direction, now and forever. Who, What, and How To Be A Servant Of Our Lord Jesus Christ- please read how you too can make a positive difference in your life and others around you.
Luke Chapter 12: 35-41
35 “Gird your loins and light your lamps 36 and be like servants who await their master’s return from a wedding, ready to open immediately when he comes and knocks. 37 Blessed are those servants whom the master finds vigilant on his arrival. Amen, I say to you, he will gird himself, have them recline at the table, and proceed to wait on them. 38 And should he come in the second or third watch and find them prepared in this way, blessed are those servants. 39 Be sure of this: if the master of the house had known the hour when the thief was coming, he would not have let his house be broken into. 40 You also must be prepared, for at an hour you do not expect, the Son of Man will come.” 41 Then Peter said, “Lord, is this parable meant for us or for everyone?”
Why do we need to be servants of the Lord here on earth?
All we have to do is look no further than Luke: 12 42-43
Luke 12:42 And the Lord said: Who thinkest thou is the faithful and wise steward, whom his lord setteth over his family, to give them their measure of wheat in due season? 43 Blessed is that servant whom, when his lord shall come, he shall find so doing.
What is the promise He gives us?
Luke 12:44 Truly, I say to you, he will put him in charge of all his property.
What happens if we do not prepare in this world for the next?
Luke 12:47 That servant who knew his master’s will but did not make preparations nor act in accord with his will shall be beaten severely;t
Luke 12:48 and the servant who was ignorant of his master’s will but acted in a way deserving of a severe beating shall be beaten only lightly. Much will be required of the person entrusted with much, and still more will be demanded of the person entrusted with more.
What is expected of us here on earth as believers in Jesus Christ?
Luke 12: 48 Much will be required of the person entrusted with much, and still more will be demanded of the person entrusted with more.
Exactly how do we fulfill our goals here on earth? Look no further than in 1 Timothy 4: 6-16. Paul’s letter to Timothy is a great lesson on how to be a good disciple for Christ.
1 Timothy 4: 6-16
6 If you put all this to the brothers, you will be a good servant of Christ Jesus and show that you have really digested the teaching of the faith and the good doctrine which you have always followed. 7 Have nothing to do with godless myths and old wives' tales. Train yourself for religion. 8 Physical exercise is useful enough, but the usefulness of religion is unlimited, since it holds out promise both for life here and now and for the life to come; 9 that is a saying that you can rely on and nobody should doubt it. 10 I mean that the point of all our toiling and battling is that we have put our trust in the living God and he is the Saviour of the whole human race but particularly of all believers. 11 This is what you are to instruct and teach. 12 Let no one disregard you because you are young, but be an example to all the believers in the way you speak and behave, and in your love, your faith and your purity.13 Until I arrive, devote yourself to reading to the people, encouraging and teaching.14 You have in you a spiritual gift which was given to you when the prophets spoke and the body of elders laid their hands on you; do not neglect it.15 Let this be your care and your occupation, and everyone will be able to see your progress.16 Be conscientious about what you do and what you teach; persevere in this, and in this way you will save both yourself and those who listen to you.
Main points of today’s spiritual doctrine article
First- Avoid profane and silly myths. Look at the articles on spiritual direction. Remember to avoid looking into or investigating churches whose doctrines are based on myths.
Second-Train and develop your devotions. Do daily scripture readings, regular fasting, and daily prayers.
Third- Watch your personal speech, conduct, love God, and love one another.
This message applies to us as much as it did to Timothy almost 2000 years ago. Rise up and serve the Lord with all of your heart, word and deed. The Church needs all of us now more than ever. Remember eternal life takes place both now and forever. May God grant you the ability to apply these words to help in your plan of salvation. Amen
