Be Prepared
My most recent memory verse is Jeremiah 20:9 – “But if I say, “I will not remember Him or speak anymore in His name,” then in my heart it becomes like a burning fire shut up in my bones; And I am weary of holding it in, and I cannot endure it.”
Christian, please hear me. As short as the time is, if you do not have in your heart a burning passion to remember our God and to speak truth in His name, then I implore you to earnestly seek the Holy Spirit to give you that kind of passion.
Time is so short – time is too short – for God’s children to play church. Every day, even today, souls around us remain in inconceivable danger of entering a Christless eternity – souls of our beloved families, souls of our friends, souls of our neighbors. And every day, Satan’s workers draw more and more sheep back into the dreadful wilderness.
It is no wonder St. Paul told Timothy, “I solemnly urge you: proclaim the message; be persistent whether the time is favorable or unfavorable; convince, rebuke, and encourage, with the utmost patience in teaching. For the time is coming when people will not put up with sound doctrine, but having itching ears, they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own desires and will turn away from listening to the truth . . . .” (2 Timothy 4:2-4)
How can you share your passion for Jesus? Perhaps you can tell us on Facebook or through your email distribution lists the story of how you first came to Christ as an adult. What led you to that decision? What is one of your favorite scriptures, and why is it so? What are you reading now in the Bible and what does it mean to you? The things you can share about how God is working in your life are nearly endless.
None of it needs to be a 500-word essay. You can often share what God is doing with you and teaching you in only few paragraphs. So, please, please take the opportunity God gives us with this technology to speak his word to others. Don’t listen to the subtle voice in your head that tells you God cannot use what you share, because God promises: “So will My word be which goes forth from My mouth; It will not return to Me empty, without accomplishing what I desire, and without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it.” (Isaiah 55:11)
May the Holy Spirit continually convert our hearts to remember Him and to speak His name to others.
