On Praying Persistently
In the middle of a battle, those unwilling to take a side and fight, lose every time. They become subjects of the one fighting against them. We are in a spiritual battle against Satan. He has declared war on us. “Then the dragon became angry with the woman and went off to wage war against the rest of her offspring, those who keep God’s commandments and bear witness to Jesus.” [Revelations 12:17]
It is a terrible tragedy to be at war and not know it. Those temptations to go against God’s commandment. Those are his weapons against us. He does not want to end your earthly life just for you to enter into eternal life. He wants to destroy you for all eternity. He knows your worth to God and it infuriates him.
We must fight with the weapons that God has given us. We must stay close to Him, especially by receiving Him in Holy Communion at Mass. We have Confession for the times that we have complied with Satan’s temptations and distanced ourselves from God, so that we can repair the damage we made. Praying every day, especially the Rosary. That way, we remain close to God and draw close to our mother as “her offspring”.
Mary, you have battled Satan and won every time. Not because of your strength, but through God’s strength that flows perfectly through you. Mom, we need your help to battle Satan. We are not strong enough, but you have been given all graces. Give us the graces we need in this battle for our souls. Amen.
