A Large Turtle In the World Today
On our first drive of the year in our convertible we spied a large turtle emerging from the wetlands onto the asphalt road. Other cars slowly move around the turtle attempting to keep it from harm yet allowing the surrounding cars to move on with their plans. My husband stops and attempts to lure the turtle back into his own environment. I remain in the car, praying and see the similarity to events in the world today.
It took years for the turtle to achieve its current state. It is streaked with history. It is hard on the outside, filled with a lifetime of of deposits of soil and moisture that have added to its history. So too with the large turtle emerging from its homeland onto the asphalt of Ukraine. The turtle must return to its own habitat; the road outside belongs to a different species. Some help with sticks to prod the turtle; others like myself pray for a peaceful end to the conflict.
The outcome to the conflict of turtle and road is uncertain.
What is certain is that others, humans are needed-
Their battle armor is varied; swords and prayer.
Each must decide their outward and inner covering.
