The Medal and the Holy Face...
Sister Pierina, a holy nun who died in 1945, in many visions was urged by the Blessed Virgin Mary Mother and Jesus Himself to spread the devotion to the Holy Face in reparation for the many insults Jesus suffered in His Passion, such as to be slapped, spit upon and kissed by Judas, as well as now being dishonored in many ways in the Blessed Sacrament by neglect, sacrileges (communion in the hand) and profanations (against his Holy Name.) She was given a medal which on one side bore a replica of the Holy Shroud and the inscription: "Illumina, Domine, vultum tuum super nos." "May O, Lord, the light of Thy Coutenances shine upon us." and "Mane nobiscum, Domine," on reverse side which means, "Stay with us, O Lord."
After great difficulties, Sister Pierina obtained permission to have the medal cast. Even the expenses for the casting were miraculously met and when she found on her desak an envelope with the exact amount of the bill- 11,200 lire - she rejoiced!
The Evil Spirit showed his chargrin and rage at the medals by flinging them down and burning the pictures of the Holy Face and beating Sister Pierina.
In 1940, when the Second World War had the world in a turmoil, Italy saw a wide distrubituion of this medal. Relatives and friends, etc. saw the power of this Holy Face mdeal and miracles happened.
Whoever wears this medal and if possible, pays a weekly visit to the Blessed Sacrament on Tuesday in spirit of reparation for the outrages received by the Holy Face of the Blessed Savior during His Passion, will receive a special grace of strong Faith and be able to defend the Faith under difficulties and more. They will also have a happy death. Our Lord also requested that a speacial feast be instutited to honor His Holy Face on Shrove Tuesday (Mardi Gras) in order to offer reparation for offenses on that day.
Also, Sister Pierina - also known as Sr. Marie of St. Peter - was given this vision and prayer called the "Golden Arrow" to make reparation for sins:
Golden Arrow Prayer:
May the Most Holy, Most Sacred, Most adorable, Most incomprehnsible and ineffable Name of God be forever praised, blessed, loved, adored and glorified in Heaven and under the earth, by all the creatures of God, and by the Sacred Heart of Our Lord Jesus Christ, in the Most Holy Sacrament of the Altar. Amen."
This information came mostly from a pamphlet from www.holyface.com - some of this was shortened by author for easier reading. Thank you.
Prayer of St. Therese of the Child Jesus and Holy Face:
"O Jesus who in Thy bitter Passion didst become the most abject of men, a man of sorrows..., I venerate Thy Sacred Face wheron there once did shine the beauty and sweetness of the Godhead; but now it has become for me as if itwere the face of a leper! Nevertheless, under those disfigured features, i recognize Thy infinte Love and I am consumed with the desire to Love thee and make Thee loved by all men.
The tears that flowed so abundantly from Thy Eyes are to me as precious pearls that I delight to gather, that with their worth I may ransom the souls of poor sinners.
O Jesus, whose Face is the sole beauty that ravishes my heart, I may not see here below the sweetness of Thy glance, nor feel the ineffable tenderness of Thy kiss, I bow to Thy Will—but I pray Thee to imprint in me Thy divine likeness, and I implore Thee so to inflame me with Thy love, that it may quickly consume me, and that I may soon reach the vision of Thy glorious Face in heaven.” Amen.

To add this in under homeschooling category - if you are a homeschooler - you may want to make a picture of the Holy Face and decorate it for Holy Week.
