Moving Backward or Moving Forward Towards God.
I was sorting through my school work and came upon two journal writings from my English Class. Thank you, Father always being there for my sister and I. Also, teaching us to have an open heart of trusting God and thanking Him daily. Amen!
My First Journal Writing written in October 1996.
How is it Important to have a Father?
Having a Father is important in the family. In the family, also is my Mom, younger sister, and myself. He is a good Father who raised my sister and me, though we used to misbehave as little kids. He would lecture us, especially, me is whenever I did something wrong or misbehave. In my parent’s home, I would be sent to a corner by having time out. If my Dad didn’t discipline me daily, I would still misbehave and often my Mom would protect me. My Father said this will teach the girls their lesson of what they did. Also, when my Dad encouraged my sister and me to sign up for extracurricular activities. For example, my sister joined the band since junior high or earl (5th grade) and she wanted to quit the band, but my Dad said no. She was involved with other activities, she didn’t know what to do. She decided not to leave the band. Though, my Dad said to my sister, “After you graduate from high school you can continue or stop.” Another memory that I remember about Dad was for me to get my driver’s license, start driving and becoming independent. During 11th grade, I took Driver’s Ed. and practice driving. I was studying for my driver’s exam, though it took me three times to pass the exam, I finally did. Once, I got my driver’s permit until my license arrived, my Dad said let’s start driving. The goal was to practice every Sunday morning until I felt comfortable driving and knowing my ways around. Overall, my sister and I have a good father and we love him so much.
Written from my Teacher:
It sounds like your Dad has pushed you to excel and you and your sister have really benefitted.
My Second Journal Writing written in May 2009.
Our Dad / Daddy / Father, Glenn, who is very important to us, has always been a good man with an understanding heart. He is a good father and husband, a family-oriented mentor, and a person who is patient and religious. The thing about our dad was that he was very strict by raising my sister, Jennifer and I. He taught us about values and to be responsible girls. Since, my sister and I were in grade school, he always told us to finish our homework and to finish our house chores, before we went outside and play. Each time my sister and I earned good grades on our report cards mainly A's and B's, our dad would give us money. Religion is an important part of his life too. My father is very thankful, very reserved, and reflective. As a family, every Saturday we attend mass. Also, my parents have been married for almost 39 years, and he is patient and faithful to my mom. There was a time when he taught my sister and I how to drive; even though my sister didn't give him many headaches, I did. Last thing about my dad was that he was a family-oriented man. Whenever my sister and I had a school activity or meeting with our teachers, he was supportive and involved in what we did. He wanted both my sister and I to achieve in our academics. When my sister and I were young, we would go to amusement parks, such as: Dennis the Menace Park, Disneyland, Great America, and the zoos. Overall, we had a blast every summer when we went out. In the future, if we ever get married and have a family of my own, we will always know who taught us these things, our Dad / Daddy / Father, Glenn. Happy Father's Day!
