A Rosary for the Souls of Priests in Purgatory
"The Lord today is calling the faithful in evergrowing numbers to pray, to offer sacrifices, in order to have holy priests. A concern, a passion, for holy priests has spread as a sign of the times throughout today’s Church. . . . The royal and universal priesthood of believers has found a new way of expressing itself: contributing to the sanctification of ministerial priesthood. Such vocations are extending out more and more beyond the walls of the cloistered monasteries, where they have been hidden, and are reaching the faithful. This vocation is becoming widespread, a call that God addresses to many."
- Fr. Raniero Cantalamessa, O.F.M. Cap., Preacher to the Papal Household
Have you been wanting to help lead other Catholics to pray for our priests? You can begin in your parish, home, or even virtually, a Vianney Cenacle, which is affiliated with the Foundation of Prayer for Priests: "A Eucharistic and Marian apostolate of intercessory prayer and catechesis instituted to obtain graces for the sanctification of priests and foster vocations to the priesthood."
Vianney Cenacles are:
"Groups of men and women who are affiliated with the Foundation of Prayer for Priests and, placing themselves under the intercession of St. John Vianney, the Patron Saint of Priests, come together to pray for priests and vocations. Taking inspiration from the Congregation for the Clergy's 2012 publication Eucharistic Adoration for the Sanctification of Priests and Spiritual Maternity, the Foundation of Prayer for Priests is proud to introduce both Public and Private Vianney Cenacles in order to magnify the Congregation's worldwide initiative of intercessory prayer for priests, especially through Eucharistic Adoration."
There are two different types fo Vianney Cenacles, Private Vianney Cenacles and Public Vianney Cenacles:
Private Vianney Cenacles:
"A Private Vianney Cenacle is a gathering of two or more people who come together to pray for priests at a home, parish conference room or other private setting. The structure of each Private Vianney Cenacle is determined primarily by the group leader in consultation with the participants, with the Foundation of Prayer for Priests (FPP) providing guidance in the form of broad parameters and suggestions."
Public Vianney Cenacles:
"A Public Vianney Cenacle is held in a church or chapel where, with the permission of the pastor, an invitation to pray in a powerful way for priests has been extended to an entire community. Ideally, a priest is present to provide for Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament. However, a Public Vianney Cenacle may also be held without a priest present. The format for such a cenacle is provided for by the Congregation for the Clergy's 2012 publication Eucharistic Adoration for the Sanctification of Priests and Spiritual Maternity."
