Forty in the Desert: Reflections on the Readings for the First Sunday of Lent
The leak of the opinion came late on the memorial of St. Athanasius of Alexandria, most famous for standing against the pervasive heresy that consumed the Church during the Arian Crisis of the late 4th century. That opinion was written by Catholic Samuel Alito and he was joined by three other Catholics: Amy Coney Barrett, Clarence Thomas and Brett Kavanaugh. If the reports are correct, two other Catholics dissented: Sonia Sotomayor, appointed by Obama, and Chief Justice John Roberts who, like Alito, had been appointed by George W. Bush. That’s 2/3 of Catholic SCOTUS Justices voting to overturn Roe v. Wade: the same percentage of angels who joined St. Michael in fighting against the rebellion of Lucifer and casting him and his fellow rebels out of Heaven. What is interesting is immediately before this event in the Apocalypse of St. John, a child is born:
His tail swept down a third of the stars of heaven, and cast them to the earth. And the dragon stood before the woman who was about to bear a child, that he might devour her child when she brought it forth- Apocalypse 12:4
Also of note, is that St. Athanasius was exiled five times for calling out and confronting the heresy rampant in the clergy and, when Constantine (who had been baptized by Eusebius, the Arainizing bishop of Nicomedia) died, the emperor Constantius II himself. In this time, when a professed Catholic is President of the most powerful country in the world, the bishops of this country have shown themselves unwilling to call him and other Catholic government leaders who support abortion “rights.” President Biden himself has already appointed a well-known supporter of abortion “rights” to the Supreme Court and both he and the Molech worshipping death cult political party of which he is the leader, including “devout and respectful” Catholic Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (who has been instructed, multiple times, by her Archbishop to refrain from receiving holy communion) are certain to use the specter of overturning Roe in an attempt to gain votes in the coming mid-term elections.
Likewise noteworthy is that this news broke on the day after the memorial of St. Joseph the Worker, which was established by Ven. Pope Pius XII in 1955 in order to counteract the godless communist “Worker’s Holiday” of May Day. What is little known is that the errors which Our Lady of Fatima warned that Russia would spread include abortion on demand in the name of gender equality. The Soviet Union was the first country to legalize abortion in 1920. Moreover, St. Joseph is sometimes honored with the title “savior of the Savior” because he saved the life of the infant Jesus by fleeing to Egypt with Him and His Mother when King Herod sought to kill him. Of course, Herod then became infamous for ordering the slaughter of the baby boys of Bethlehem in order to do so. Thus, much like today, the state sanctioned the murder of babies in an attempt to hold onto political power, while the priestly caste said and did nothing.
It was these same priests who in an effort to hold on to political arranged for Jesus to be crucified on false charges. Then, as His apostles spread the truth of His Resurrection, they persecuted them. One of these apostles was St. James the Less, who may have been Our Lord’s cousin. In A.D. 62, the scribes, Pharisees and priests, much as they had done with his Master, conspired to kill him at Passover. This was accomplished by throwing him off the parapet of the Temple and when this failed to kill him, stoning him, then finishing him off with the blow of a fuller’s club to the head. It is appropriate then, that the Church commemorates the feast of St. James the Less, along with St. Philip the Apostle, today as news of this leak breaks all over the land. It is certainly possible, that in their rage at their satanic sacrament being restricted, the adherents of the Molech worshipping death cult might just initiate persecutions of faithful Catholics and other Christians, especially if they are able to use this to secure control of both Houses of Congress. Let us then pray for the courage to suffer, if necessary, for the Faith as Sts. Philip, James and their successor St. Athanasius, did.
Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for our dear country!
